MOT

I discovered last night that my car is due its MOT today !   To be fair, the DVLA had sent me a bit of paper telling me I needed a test, but Id looked at it and for some reason thought it wasn't due until the summer.  ( I know, why would they send me a reminder in February....? Doh )  There has been a lot of confusion here in N Ireland about MOT tests because two years ago most of the testing centers here were found to have faulty car ramps and they were all closed down. People were issued with exemption notices. Then Covid hit and they closed down again and more exemptions were issued.  My car is 4 years old and was due its first MOT in the middle of all of that so I got an exemption and to be honest I had no idea when my test was supposed to be until I logged onto a website and it told me that I had to be tested by 25th Feb.  Eeeeek.  There ensued a frantic online search round all the testing centers for miles around and only one had an appointment - at 9.05 this morning!   Cue a quick nip out to the car to test lights and seat belts and what not.  Its a very long time since Ive actually had to get up in the morning to go somewhere!  What excitement.

As I was thinking about what to write for the blog I had all the MOT stuff buzzing in my head.  I suddenly realised I didn't know what MOT stands for.  I assumed it was Motor something Test.  Couldn't for the life of me think what the O could stand for.  So I googled it and found that of course it stands for Ministry Of Transport. 😊

Can you guess where this is going?

I do love how God likes to have a wee play with words every now and again.  As soon as I saw those words Ministry of Transport I could feel Him grinning and saying ' Caz, your ministry of transport check is due'   When was the last time my ' ministry ' ( hate that word ) actually transported anyone anywhere?  When did I last help to shift someone from darkness to light - or even from doubt to a bit more certainty or from lies to truth?   We all have a ministry of transport.  God has called us to move people along.  To lift people up and point them to their Saviour.  To steer people away from danger and guide them to safety.

This morning as Im sitting waiting for the nice person to check my car, and in between praying fervently that it passes, I shall maybe just take a moment to give my spiritual vehicle a bit of a health check and see if Im running low on oil, need water, air in my tyres of have anything corroding my frame.   And if I find things amiss I can rest assured that Jesus my eternal mechanic will see me right and roadworthy again as soon as I present my lack to him.

When is your MOT due? Just go and check and make sure its not tomorrow 😁
