Battle
But now we have a vaccine. The death toll is dropping daily. One would expect the enemy to be not too happy about this. His killing spree is coming to an end. He is going to have to find other ways to kill steal and destroy. This week he has been doing a pretty good job with just about everyone I know.
I've had messages about an addiction relapse, a severe mental health crisis, a suspected case of Lupus, a severe case of hypothermia, a stroke, a broken hip and to top it all Kenny is back in hospital. Good grief! You mention that you have a sword and the next thing you know.......
We all know we are in a battle but I suppose most of the time most of us don't feel the heat of it too often ( thankfully) But there seem to be seasons when all of a sudden we are in the thick of it - either ourselves or on behalf of other people - and we feel so helpless and useless and unable to change things. We believe in the power of prayer and we know that God is greater. But when you are watching people you love suffer you just want to be able to do more than pray. You want miracles. You want instant answers and relief and rescue. You want a Saviour to really actually turn up and make it all better right now.
One day, I genuinely believe, we will be a people who once again heal people as our shadows fall on them. We will speak a word and miraculous things will happen. Demons will flee as we walk into rooms and the deaf will hear as we smile at them. One day. Until then we just have to dig in, pray. keep believing, encourage each other, hold up the hands of the weary and speak the truth in love. We have to put on our armour, keep our swords sharp and learn how to wield them more effectively.
It's a tiring business this warfare. But if we listen for the strategy of our Commander in Chief and pray in the Spirit as and when He leads us we shall see victories. They might be small and take time, but many small victories win the war.
